DEATH OF JOHN HENDERSON:

He died June 3rd, l884. Was born in the State of Kentucky in the year

l8l3. At 4 years of age he, with a widowed mother, moved to Lawrence

County, Indiana. On the 3lst of October, l833, he was married to

DELILAH TURPIN. There they raised a family of seven children--five boys

and two girls. In l854 the family moved to Iowa and bought a farm in

Hamilton Township. After the death of his first wife, he married JANE

MAXWELL, the widow of WILLIAM K. MAXWELL, who had four children. Four

years ago the last of the children were married, and his widow is left

alone to mourn her deep loss. For l8 years he was a member of the

Baptist Church and for years a deacon in the same church. In his death,

the church has lost one of her great helpers, the children a kind father

and the wife a loving husband.

Farewell, dear brother. Take thy rest. God, in his wisdom, thought it

best.
