HENRY HEMBRY, born in England 73 years ago, died of Bright's disease at

the home of ALEX. BEDIER last Monday morning. He was a member of the

M.E. Church, never was married and had resided in Grand River Township

since l876.

Funeral services were conducted at the new church in Decatur Tuesday

afternoon at 3 o'clock followed by the interment in Decatur Cemetery.

HENRY HEMBRY was born in Keyton Hill, England, April 8th, l823. He

lived in England until he was 22 years old; then came to Canada, and

spent a few years there, then came to Dubuque County, Iowa, living there

a number of years. He went to San Francisco, spending five years there

and then returned to Dubuque County and afterwards went to his old home

in England. After visiting there for a time he returned to Canada and

spent a few years there. He then came to Decatur County where he spent

the remainder of his life.

He was baptized in the Church of England. He was a Bible student; and a

firm believer in the Book of books. He believed in doing good to all

men. His last words to his friends were: "I'm ready and willing to die,

I am not afraid of death, I am going to a better world than this where

there is no pain, nor sorrow. I want you all to meet me in that

glorious world above. I am going home, good-bye dear friends and loved

ones, I am on my journey home."

The funeral services were conducted by REV. GEORGE E. MITCHELL, of Davis

City, at the M.E. Church at Decatur, June 2nd at l:30 p.m., assisted by

REVS. BROWNING and SHEPARD, in the midst of sorrowing friends and

relatives. After the services at the church, his remains were laid at

rest in the Decatur Cemetery to await the resurrection morn.

The bereaved have the tender sympathy of a host of neighbors and

friends.
