Decatur County Journal
May 2l, l903
GENEVIEVE, the daughter of W.C. and ALICE HEBENER, was born at Leon,
May
l8, l887. She died at Des Moines May l3, l903, aged l5 years, ll
months, and 26 days.
GENEVIEVE was a Leon School girl for a number of years, and her many
young friends hold her in gracious memory. The family have made their
home in Des Moines for more than two years, where the advantages of
city
schools were enjoyed. GENEVIEVE has never been strong, and on account
of her poor health, her training was not as rapid as it might have
been. Her instructor spoke especially in praise of musical ability,
and
it was her intention to take an advanced course in music.
Her recent illness began in January last, first ailing with measles
and
then with trouble which resulted in spinal menengitis, which caused
her
death.
Short services were conducted in Des Moines, after which her body was
brought to her old home town for interment, and here by the side of
her
father's grave is the resting place of his youngest daughter. The
funeral service in Leon was conducted at the residence of Charles Hurst
last Sunday afternoon in the presence of many friends and relatives.
The
service was in charge of Rev. H.H. Hubbell of the Christian Church.
