Subject: SAD DEATH OF FLOYD HARVEY.

Date: Sunday, April 15, 2001 11:24 PM

Decatur County Journal

February 9, l893

On last Thursday MR. and MRS. J.L. HARVEY received a telegram containing

the sad intelligence that their son, FLOYD, had been taken from the

train at Wilson, Kansas, in a dying condition. MR. HARVEY imediately

started for that place, driving across the country to Lineville in order

to catch a train, but he arrived too late, as FLOYD died the same day at

6 o'clock p.m.

FLOYD had been subject to kidney trouble for a number of years and the

supposition is that he had started home and was taken sick on the way.

While on the train he got up and started to the water closet and fell on

the floor. He was taken off the train at Wilson and conveyed to a

hotel, where everything was done to save him that medical skill could

suggest. He lived nine hours after he was taken sick and at one time

the chances seemed favorable for his recovery, but a relapse occurred

and he suddenly expired. Spartacus Lodge No. l48, K.of P., at Wilson

was very kind to both son and father, and rendered all the aid possible

under the circumstances.

The deceased would have been l8 years of age the l5th day of next April

and was the eldest of two children. He was a bright boy intellectually,

a kind and obedient son and was popular with his young associates.

Judge HARVEY met his brother at Kansas City and accompanied the remains

home, arriving here last Monday.

The funeral services were held at the house Tuesday, conducted by REV.

HOHANSHELT in the presence of a large number of friends of the afflicted

family. The pall bearers were: A.J. ALLEN; W.H. ALBAUGH; MARION F.

STOOKEY; A.A. ROY; T.S. ARNOLD and O.E. HULL. The sad affliction falls

with crushing weight upon the bereaved family, who have the sincere

sympathy of a host of friends in their hour of sorrow.
