EUGENE E. HARRISON was born in the town of Fairfield, Green County,
Ohio, on the l8th day of September, l863. Died near Davis City of
cancer, after a long illness, on the 9th day of October, l894, aged 3l
years and 2l days.
He came of pure English parentage on his father's side and pure
Pennsylvania Dutch on his mother's side. The deceased grew up to
manhood in the town in which he was born. Resided in Nebraska l0 years
and here 4 years, ending his days among us.
EUGENE married MISS RENA WHEELER, February 20, l890. To them was born
one child, which preceded the father to the Heavenly home. EUGENE was
converted and joined the M.E. Church, July l0, l894, his wife uniting at
the same time. He gave evidence of his being saved all through his
sickness. He was willing and ready to die. To his Pastor and others,
he spoke of his bright prospects of the future and died in the triumphs
of a living faith in God.
The deceased was a member of the Sons of Veterans, and it was his
request that the Sons of Veterans should take charge of his funeral,
which occurred October l0th at 2 p.m. at the Union Church. After an
appropriate service, conducted by REV. GEO. E. MITCHELL, his remains
were conveyed to the cemetery in Davis City, where the Sons of Veterans
Buried him according to the ritual of the camp.
The deceased was a true patriot and citizen, an only and dutiful son, a
true and loving husband and father, loved and respected by all, and
while we part it is only for a time; for we shall meet beyond the river.
The bereaved have the sympathy of the people.
