Subject: OBITUARY - ANNA F. (FOX) HARPSTER.
Date: Wednesday, June 27, 2001 9:00 PM
Decatur County Journal
May 25, l899
ANNA F. FOX was born in Appanoose County, Iowa, September 6, l857, and
died at her home in Lincoln, Nebraska, April 28, l899, after an illness
of several days.
Deceased, in company with her parents, came to Nebraska in l88l, coming
direct to Gage County, where she resided with her parents until January
2l, l890, when she was united in marriage to GEORGE W. HARPSTER. Since
that time MR. and MRS. HARPSTER have made their home in Wymore until a
few weeks ago, when they removed to Lincoln, where they resided at the
time of her death.
The remains were brought to Blue Springs for interment, the funeral
services being conducted at the Evangelical Church in that city last
Sunday afternoon, after which a large and sorrowing concourse of friends
and relatives followed the remains to her last resting place. MRS.
HARPSTER was a member of the Eastern Star, the L.A. to O.R.C. and to the
Tribe of Ben Hur, and the floral offerings from these and other orders
were among the most beautiful that ever covered a casket, and spoke
louder than words of the love and esteem her friends bore for her.
Kind and generous to a fault, she made hosts of friends for herself in
whose memory her kind acts and loving disposition will ever remain. She
leaves a husband, mother and four brothers, besides her countless
friends to mourn her untimely death. In this, their hour of utmost
sorrow, the husband and relatives have the sympathy of the entire
community. In the death of MRS. HARPSTER, the husband loses a true and
dutiful wife, the family a loving daughter and sister and the different
orders to which she belonged, a member who was always found ready to do
more than her share in anything that pertained to duty. Her death will
long be mourned by the entire community.
Those from a distance who attended the funeral were MISS STELLA SIMMS of
Leon, a cousin, and MRS. SIZZIE BATES of Coon Raids, Iowa, an aunt of
the deceased.
