JAMES HALL, at the advanced age of 85, died at the home of his daughter,

MRS. MARTIN GILHAM, on Tuesday afternoon, April 20. He has made his

home with his daughter for the past seven years, but during the most of

that time had been an intense sufferer, and not able to often leave the

house.

He was born at Blackburn, England, and came to America when nine years

old, making his home in North Carolina. He was married in l830 to

RACHEL HILL, who died a few years afterwards, and again in l833 to LINNA

HEOC(?), who passed away in l890. Several children remain to mourn his

death.

It is not often given to a man to enjoy as many years as was alloted to

FATHER HALL. He had a strong constitution, and made a strong battle for

life and it was only after the forces were completely exhausted that he

passed away.

Early in life he united with the Methodist Church and has, for all these

years, lived an earnest Christian life. The funeral service was held at

the home on Wednesday afternoon, in charge of REV. GEO. M. HUGHES.
