ALICE JANE HACKER, nee JOHNSON, the wife of J.F. HACKER, died on July
l3, l90l, after a lingering sickness of over nine months. The immediate
cause of her death was paralysis. She was born in Van Wert County,
Ohio, on May 27, l86l. Her parents moved to Polk County, Iowa, the
same
year. She came to Decatur County in l879 and was married to J.F. HACKER
on Nov. 26, l882. to this union nine children were born: four boys
and
five girls, all of whom are living. They, with the husband, are left
to
mourn her loss. The deceased united with the church when but a young
girl. She was a loving wife, a devoted mother and a woman whom everyone
knew to love and respect.
The funeral was conducted by Rev. J.W. Caldwell at the M.E. Church in
Van Wert, IA., in the presence of a large congregation of sympathizing
friends. The interment was in the Van Wert Cemetery.
The relatives from away who attended the funeral were: A sister, MRS.
LILLARD, Garden Grove, Ia., MRS. JESSIE E. WILLEY, MRS. HACKER's sister,
Aurora, Ill., MRS. L.E. HACKER, Freemont, Neb., MR. and MRS. H.L.
HACKER, Osceola, Ia., and MRS. S.L. CURRY, Weldon, Iowa.
The father, three brothers and two sisters of the deceased, who live
in
Colorado, and one sister who lives in Oklahoma were unable to be present
at the funeral.
