NANCY A. MOORE was born near Londonderry, Ireland, in the year l834. At the age of five years she came with her parents to Ohio. In the year l854, she was married to JOSEPH N. HOLLEN in Jefferson County, Iowa, and in August, l857, they moved to Decatur County, Iowa, where they endured all the hardships of a frontier life. To this union were born eleven children, six sons and five daughters. Her husband and two daughters preceded her to the better land.

She became a Christian in early life remaining steadfast to the end. She died June 11th, at the age of 70 years, 1 month and 16 days, leaving behind six sons and three daughters together with many relatives and friends to mourn her loss.

The funeral service was preached Sunday, June 12th, at 2:30 p.m. by Rev. Bingaman, Pastor of the M.E. Church at Davis City. The services were held at the home of George Teale, where she died. The remains were laid to rest in the nearby country cemetery.
