From the Chastain Scrapbook:
To the Editor of the Journal:--I feel it my duty to announce through your columns, the death of David Harmon, M.D., which occurred in Woodland township, on the morning of the 30th of November 1876, in the 53rd year of his age. He was one of the earliest settlers in this county, and has many friends and acquaintances in this section of the country. He was a native of Columbiana county, Ohio, and graduated at the University of Willoby in 1840. He had been an invalid for many years, and his sufferings have been great. He anxiously awaited to depart from earth, and received joyfully the summons of the King of Terrors. He loved the scriptures, and they were his principal reading for many years. He was a member of the church of Christ for 12 years, and believed and taught that form of doctrine taught by the Apostles of our Lord. He leaves a wife and 5 children to mourn his loss, but we mourn not as those having no hope, but thank God for the hope which is an anchor to the s oul.
"He sleeps in Jesus, blessed sleep,
From which non ever wake to weep."
