Died, in south Leon Jan. 2l, l90l, A.M. HAMMONS. The deceased was born in Mercer County, Mo., Oct. l8, l859, 7 miles south of Princeton. He came to Decatur County in l890, living the principal time in Leon. The deceased was united in marriage to EFFIE MCKERN in l893. To them three children were born, one passed to the Spirit dwelling of the dead in infancy, two remain with the mother to share the lonely hours of the absent one.

The deceased was a member of the Baptist Church and a faithful hand on the section under the care of Wm. Gibson, was a kind husband and a loving father, a good neighbor and a true friend in sickness, but his work is done and he is at rest. The funeral took place at the Palestine Church and was well attended. Services were conducted by the writer after which the remains were committed to the grave to await the resurrection morn. The wife and fatherless children are justly worthy of the sympathy of the whole community.
