Elsie Ann Hines Gammon

Mrs. Elsie Ann Hines Gammon, the third of the four children of William and Mary Hines was born in [Macaupin] county, Illinois, October 1, 1873. She passed the portals of this life into the world beyond on February 6, 1944 in Ames, Iowa. The span of her earth life is thus measured at 70 years, 4 months and 5 days. When she was but a baby her parents moved to Missouri. When she was six years old they came to a farm near Leon. In this community she grew to womanhood. It was here, too, that she met the one who was her choice for her companion through life.

On February 1, 1893 she was united in marriage to a neighbor boy, Willis W. Gammon. Their new home was established in the farm neighborhood where they lived for 23 years. In 1916 they moved to Ames and this has been her home since until she entered the heavenly mansions.

On August 17, 1929, she was [berefit] of her husband through a tragic auto accident on the highway south of Ames. She received injuries which made her a semi-imvalid.
