ARMILDA E. GAMMON was born in Indiana, October 29, l829, and died at
the
home of her father GAINES GAMMON in east Leon, April l4, l90l, aged
7l
years, 5 months and l6 days. She was married to JAMES GAMMON, November
4, l852, to whom were born eleven children, eight boys and three girls.
Nine of the children survive her.
Deceased has lived long in this county and leaves many friends to mourn
her departure. The children had the privilege to enjoy her last days
in
their own homes. Her demise was without suffering. Surely "He giveth
his beloved sleep." Funeral services were conducted at the home by
Elder Castor on Tuesday morning after which interment occurred in Eden
Township.

FORMER LEON LADY DIES
Mrs. J. W. Gammon, 70, former Leon resident, passed away last Sunday night about ten o'clock at the home of her son. W. W. Gammon, in Ames. Funeral services were held at Ames Wednesday with burial following [ ]. Her sister, Mrs. D. G. Gammon and daughter Mrs. Lloyd Allbaugh left Leon Monday for Ames. D. G. Gammon and daughter, Mrs. Walter Blakesley, left Wednesday morning to attend the funeral services.
Information on Myers, Armilda Eliza
Armilda moved to Monroe County, IA with her parents in 1850. Her parents later moved to Nebraska. Her father died there and mother remained after his death. After Armilda's marriage to James W. Gammon they moved to Decatur County, IA and joined his family on April 6, 1856 and located on a farm in Eden Twp. Their homeplace known as the Spellman farm consisted of 160 acres in Section 23, Eden Twp.
Armilda's ancestors are suppose to be from Germany.
