IRVIN GORE was born August l9, l838 in Overton County, Tennessee, and
died September 5, l903, aged 65 years and l6 days. MR. GORE spent a
part of his early life in Tennessee. He then moved to Decatur County,
Iowa, with his parents and has ever since resided in the State of Iowa.
He was married to AMERICA TONY, July 3, l859. To this union were born
three children, two girls and one son. The children are: MRS. ELLA
ALLEN; MRS. ETTIE BRENIZER and JOHN GORE, all of which survive him.

MR. GORE was a dutiful son, a kind husband and a good father. It was
one of his greatest pleasures to have his children come home with their
families to visit.

MR. GORE was a most successful farmer and stock buyer. His business
qualities are well known all over the county. He has resided on his
home farm about 25 years and during his illness begged that he might be
laid to rest under a tall cottonwood tree in view of his home and the
road, and that his funeral might be preached by Rev. Scott Jones. A
large congregation of people from Lamoni, Davis City, and surrounding
country, gathered in the yard where a most impressive sermon was
rendered by Rev. Jones, after which the body was carried to the grave
prepared for him in the manner he desired.

He leaves a wife, three children, a brother, and an aged mother to mourn
his loss. The bereaved family have the sympathy of the entire
community.
