Subject: OBITUARY - MRS. ELIZABETH (WARNER) GIVENS.

Elizabeth Warner was born in Ft. Jefferson, Dark(e) county, Ohio,

June 10, 1832, and died at her home in Leon, Iowa, September 9, 1911,

at the age of 79 years, 3 months, and 4 days.

On December 23, 1849, she was married to J. C. F. Givens. In 1851,

they moved to Illinois, and the following year to Iowa, settling in

Muscatine

county. In 1854, they moved to Decatur county where they have since

made

their home, thus being among the very earliest settlers of this county.

In the

year 1865, Mr. and Mrs. Givens became christians, being baptized by

Rev.

J. C. Porter and have been members of the Christian church ever since.

Two

daughters and a son were born to this union, the latter dying when quite

young.

She leaves to mourn her departure and aged husband, two daughters, Mrs.

W. T.

Coons, of Leon, and Mrs. R. D. Martin, of Fillmore, California, one

sister, Mrs.

G. W. Baker, of Leon, fifteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted at the Christian church of this city by

the pastor,

Rev. J. S. Coffin, Saturday at 2:00 p.m. The remains were laid to rest

in the

Leon cemetery.
