J.L. GATES, of Stella, Neb., a cousin of J.N. and S.A. GATES of this

place, died last Sunday of diabetes, after an illness of four months.

The deceased was forty-five years of age and leaves a wife and one

child. He was a railroad man, formerly resided at Smyrna, Clarke

County, and supplied the railroad stations at this place and at Garden

Grove a number of years ago.
