FARRAND S. GARDNER died at his home seven miles northwest of Leon, last

Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, of pneumonia, aged 8l years, ll months

and 6 days. The funeral services were held at the residence Monday

afternoon by Rev. Pilcher, after which the remains were laid at rest in

the Leon Cemetery.

MR. GARDNER was born in Syracuse, N.Y., April l0, l82l, where he lived

with his parents until manhood. January 26, l847, he married MISS MARIA

E. REYNOLDS, who passed away in l887. To this union three children were

born, the eldest of whom died in infancy. MRS. ELLEN PERRY and FRANK

survive the father.

The deceased suffered the loss of his property in the great Chicago fire

after which he located on the farm where he died.
