WASHINGTON B. GARDNER was born in Columbiana County, Ohio, July l2, l824

and died at his home in Decatur County, Ia., Sept. 23, l900, aged 76

years, 2 months and ll days.

While a young man, he went to Park County, Ind., where he was married.

He came to Iowa in l855 and located on a farm north of Leon. In l875 he

went to Kansas and returned to Iowa in the fall of l896. He leaves 6

daughters and 4 sons in the bereft home, his third wife having died last

June. His final sickness was only for a few days. His life was an

example of faithful companionship.
