Mrs. Elizabeth Guire

The following obituary appeared in a Monument, Colorado paper.

Elizabeth Francis Guire, who has been a resident of the Monument community since 1873, passed away to the great beyond on Saturday, June 2, 1928, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ida Garrett, at Loveland, Colorado, where she had made her home. Mrs. Guire was born in Putnam County, Indiana, September 21, 1845, and at the time of her death had r4eached the ripe old age of 82 years, 8 months, and 11 days. She was united in marriage to Dr. Carter H. Wise in 1863 at Leon, Decatur County, Iowa. Two children, Edgar and Zarah blessed this union but after a few years of happy married life Dr. Wise passed away. The widow was married to David C. Guire and came to live at Monument, Colorado, January 1873. To this union one son Walter and a daughter now Mrs. Garrett, were born. Mrs. Garrett is the only child living. At an early age she joined the Christian church and during alo these years she has been a devout worker in the church circle in which she lived. Mrs. Guire had been in very good health to within a few hours of her death, although for a few months she has been blind. A lot of the oldtime friends mourn with the sorrow (the clipping is cut off right here).
