Died August l2, l900, MRS. CATHERINE GROGAN, at the age of 64 years, 4 months and 26 days.

Her birthplace was County Clare, Ireland, but America has been her home since l854. She with her parents, settled in New York and here was united in marriage with THOMAS GROGAN. In l869 they moved west to Decatur County and settled on a farm near Leon, where the family has since resided. A few years later, locating in Iowa, she was left a widow. Although difficulties surrounded her they were overcome by her indomitable energy and fortitude and thus she reared her six children to manhood and womanhood. Her charity extended to all; many hours she spent ministering to the sick and suffering. The days of her last illness were marked by patience and resignation and so surrounded by loving relatives and friends and sustained by her great Christian faith, she departed this life.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Father Condon and she was laid to rest in the Catholic Cemetery.

Requiescat in pace.(sic)
