DIED.

GODFREY - At his home in Lamoni, Iowa, Sunday, December 2, 1894, of kidney trouble, Captain John W. GODFREY, aged 76 years, 8 months and 13 days. Captain GODFREY was born in Massachusetts, and served int he navy department during the civil war, contracting the disease from which he has suffered ever since and finally died.

Deceased leaves a wife and two daughters, all at present in Lamoni.

During his brief residence in Lamoni, having been here something over a year, Captain GODFREY became known as a pleasant, genial neighbor and friend.

The burial took place Wednesday from the Brick church under the auspices of the local G. A. R. post, Elder H. A. STEBBINS, himself an old soldier, delivering the address. The remains were interred in the Rose Hill cemetery.
