The remains of MISS ABBIE L. GODFREY were brought from Clarinda, Ia., last week, arriving here Saturday morning. She had died at that place the Thursday previous. W.W. SCOTT having been notified, made all necessary arrangements. MISS GODFREY's father having been an honored soldier and officer in the war of the rebellion, the members of the G.A.R. met the remains at the depot, and acted as pall bearers. Brief services were held at the hall with W.W. SCOTT in charge. Elder Morrill, of the home offered prayer, and the remains were then borne to their last resting place in Rose Hill.
MISS GODFREY was born in Boston, Massachusetts, whither she came to Lamoni with her parents in l894. She had been an invalid about twenty years.
The funeral was attended by relatives and friends from town, and by a large number from the Saint's Home where she had found a home for a time before being taken to Clarinda.
