OBITUARY

CARROLL E. GRIMM

 

Carroll Edwin GRIMM, a life long south central Iowa resident, died June 8, 1992 at the Clearview Home in Mount Ayr. He was 54.

 

Funeral services were conducted June 12 at the Van Wert Assembly of God Church. Pastor Scott CLARKE officiated and burial was in the Van Wert Cemetery.

 

Mr. GRIMM, son of Vernie Clate and Nellie May (REED) GRIMM was born in Decatur County near Grand River on Jan. 7, 1938. He grew up in the Van Wert – Grand River area and he received his education in Decatur and Clarke County schools.

 

He enlisted in the Navy in 1955 and served four years. He married Margaret OVERHOLSER on June 15, 1957 at Van Wert. They were the parents of one son, Scott Wade GRIMM.

 

After being discharged from the Navy he worked in Burlington. He moved to Creston where he operated the Grimm DX service station. He also helped his brother-in-law, Scottie GERE, construct basements.

 

In 1976 he became disabled due to illness. Prior to his death he made a special effort to see all his relatives, even traveling as far as Arkansas

 

He enjoyed outdoors and liked hunting, fishing, camping, and boating.

 

Mr. GRIMM is survived by his son, Scott Wade GRIMM of Creston; three brothers and four sisters: Dale GRIMM and his wife Wanda of Hartwell, Neb.; Orvetta STICKLEY and her husband Richard of Lonsdale, Ark.; Clara BRUNS of Creston; Orma POWELL and her husband Richard of Osceola; Estel GRIMM and his wife Elaine of Logan; Merna GERE and her husband Scottie; Dean GRIMM and his wife Marian, all of Van Wert; and many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

 

Wilson-Watson Funeral home of Mt. Ayr was in charge of arrangements.
