Obituary ~ Rex Jerald Foland

Rex Jerald FOLAND, 86, died April 8, 2007 in Temecula, CA. Born on January 4, 1921, along with his twin brother Max Gerald to Orval and Fern (WELDON) FOLAND in Grand River, Iowa. Lived to adulthood in the Van Wert area, graduated from Van Wert High in 1938. Then the family moved to Los Angeles, CA. He entered the Army in 1942 and served in World War II in Europe during the Battle of the Bulge and into Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He married Berneta ANDERSON of Leon, Iowa in Los Angeles on December 21, 1946. They had two daughters, Penny Lynn and Melissa Lynn. He lived in the Los Angeles area and worked in sheet metal construction except for five years when he owned a fishing resort in Walker, Minnesota, on Leech Lake, the dream of his life fishing. He was an outdoor sportsman and loved going fishing and hunting with old friends. He belonged to the Donald Douglas Rod and Gun Club for many years until it disbanded. He was a life long member of the Assembly of God Church.
He is survived by a very loving family, his wife of 60 years, Berneta; daughters Penny FORD and husband Mark of Manhattan Beach, CA; Melissa LANDIS and husband Jeff of Temecula, CA; two granddaughters, Sara FORD and Allison FORD; two grandsons, Rex LANDIS and Ryan LANDIS; his twin brother Max FOLAND and his wife Pearl of Wausau, Wisconsin; his brother-in-law Dennis ANDERSON and his wife Leota of Independence, Missouri; along with many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Surviving are sons: Rex and wife Berneta, Los Angeles; and Max and wife, Pearl, Wausau, Wis.; two sisters: Pearl WOODSIDE, Chariton, Iowa; and Maude COLEMAN, Murray, Iowa; three sisters-in-law: Belva COX, Leon; Eva BEARDSLEY, Denver, Co.; and Bernice FROST, Mt. Ayr; brother-in-law Cloyd FOLAND and wife Doris, Decatur, Iowa; two grandsons; four granddaughters; eight great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
