ADA BELLE FOLAND
Ada Belle (MOORE) FOLAND,
age 69 of Leon, Iowa, the daughter of
Walter C. and Daisy Marie (Norris) Moore,
was born September 27, 1937 in Harrison County, Missouri. She went home to be
with the Lord on Sunday, March 25,
2007,
surrounded by family and friends at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon.
Ada Belle was saved at
the age of 12 and was baptized in the river at Davis City, Iowa. She attended Pleasanton grade school and
graduated from Leon High School. She married Richard Cloyd Foland
on May 27, 1956. They celebrated
their 50th anniversary last May. To this union three daughters were born, Anita
Jo, Kimberly Ann, and Tamara Lynn.
Richard
and Ada Belle lived in Des Moines, Iowa for one year before
returning to their roots in Decatur County. They farmed for two years, Ada Belle sold toys at home
parties, and worked at Hanthorn's Greenhouse, before
beginning a long career on Leon's Main Street. For fourteen years
she worked at J.C. Penney, fifteen years at Sears, and five years at Citizen's
Bank.
Ada Belle enjoyed golfing,
playing cards, and going to Georgia to visit her sister
and her family. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great
grandchildren and their many activities and adventures.
Preceding her in death were her
parents; father-in-law Cloyd Foland; and brothers-in-law Gary Foland and Joseph Schoch.
She is
survived by her husband, Richard Foland
of Leon; children: Anita and
Roger Leeper of Leon; Kimberly and Steve Thornton of Ruffin, North Carolina; and Tammy Foland and Rick of Leon; sister Carma Leta Schoch of Georgia; mother-in-law Doris Foland of Decatur, Iowa; brother-in-law
Ronald & Sandy Foland of
Leon; sister-in-law Debbie & Mike Courtney
of Leon; grandchildren: Aaron & Chandra Leeper;
Jamie & Don Patterson;
Jessica & Benny Oakes; Wendi
& Thom Howard; Rusty Norris; Greg Thornton and Jessica; Joshua & Ashley Thornton; Andrew Leeper and Kala;
and Amanda Leeper; great
grandchildren: Tyler Patterson,
Morgan Oakes, Madison Leeper, MacKenzie
Howard, Brody Patterson, Gracelyn
Thornton, and Brayden
Thornton. She was so looking
forward to the birth of her eighth great grandchild who arrived the same day as
her passing, Lane Latham Leeper.
Also surviving is her very special niece Ronda Bailey and nephew Randy & Vickie Ivins; two great nephews Chris & Rose Marie Jones and Hunter Ivins; and other relatives and many,
many friends.
