'A MOTHER GONE HOME TO REST'
Died, in Davis City October 25, l894, after a painful illness of two
months of paralysis and softening of the brain, Sister SUSAN EATON,
wife
of REV. W.H. EATON, of Davis City.
The deceased was born in Wythe County, Virginia in l833, being 62 years
of age at death. She came to Missouri at an early day and was
united in
marriage to NEWTON EIDISON in l849. To them was born a daughter,
LOUISA, who came to see her mother several days before her death,
remaining until she was buried. Sister EATON was united the second
time
in marriage in l855 to W.H. EATON, the surviving husband. To
them four
children were born, only one of whom survives her.
Sister EATON was converted and united with the Baptist Church, when
she
was quite young, remaining a faithful, devoted and consistent member
until the Master whom she loved and served, called her home to rest.
During her illness she expressed herself as not afraid to depart.
She
was highly respected and dearly loved by all who knew her. She
was a
good helpmate to her husband, a tender mother to her children, a kind
neighbor and a devoted Christian, but she has passed on before to await
the coming of other dear ones, that must soon follow.
The funeral was held in the Union Church in Davis City, and was largely
attended. The sermon was preached by the writer from Rev. 22
and 5,
"And there shall be no night there". The remains were laid to
rest in
the cemetery at Davis City by the side of other loved ones, to await
the
coming of the Lord and the resurrection of the just.
We shall sleep, but not forever
There will be a glorious dawn
We shall meet to part, no, never
On the resurrection morn.
F. EDWARDS.
