FRANCIS XAVIER EATON was born in Jacksontown, Licking County, Ohio,
October l8, l825, and died at the home of his daughter, MRS. EMMA E.
HARVEY, Leon, Iowa, January l8, l892, aged 66 years and 3 months.

BROTHER EATON joined the M.E. Church on probation as a seeker.  He had
been a member and seeker about a year before he was converted, which
took place when alone about his work.  He was 2l years old when he
became a Christian.

He married MISS SARAH KIRK March 3, l846, in Jacksontown, Ohio.  Into
this home seven children were given.  All are living except one.

BROTHER EATON and family came to Pella, Iowa, in l865.  He lived there
until l870, at which time he came to Leon, and has lived here ever
since.  He became a member of the Leon M.E. Church at once or soon after
his arrival and has lived and died a greatly honored member of the same.

BROTHER EATON was loyal to what he believed were the interests of his
country.  He loved the church above everything else and was in his place
unless uncontrollable circumstances prevented.  He read his church
paper, The Western, for about 45 years.  In the state, church and home,
as a citizen, BROTHER EATON was a much loved and honored man.  The
funeral services were conducted by REV. W.G. HOHANSHELT from the M.E.
Church.
