Oscar Arlis Eastin
OBITUARY

Oscar Arlis Eastin son of Earnest C. and Ethel Hullinger Eastin, was born October 11, 1907 in Burrell Township, Decatur County, Iowa and passed away July 16, 1993 at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon, Iowa at the age of 85 years.

Oscar was the second child in the family of six children. His early childhood was spent with his family in a rural farm community where he also attended school. He was graduated from Leon High School with the class of 1926. After graduation he spent a number of years teaching in the Decatur County School System.

On February 21, 1928 Oscar was married to Gladys Akes in Leon. They lived on farms near Decatur and Weldon, Iowa while Oscar continued teaching. Two sons were born to this union, Paul Arlis Eastin and Larry Lloyd Eastin.

In 1955 they left the farm, moving to Leon where Oscar was employed at North Lumber, Leon Concrete, Haven's Plumbing, and the Decatur County Courthouse.

Oscar enjoyed his family and many friends. His favorite hobby was fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother-in-law Lester Heifner.

Surviving are his wife Gladys Eastin of Leon; two sons, Paul Eastin and wife Evelyn and Larry Eastin and wife Louellen, all of Leon; 4 grandchildren: Larry Hamilton, Gary Eastin, Coleen Eastin, and Dennis Eastin; 6 great Grandchildren: Shawn and Lonnie Hamilton, Brandon Eastin, Tony Young, Estelle Smith, and Rachel Smith; 1 great-great granddaughter Ashley Hamilton; 4 sisters: Goldie Heifner of Gentry, Arkansas, Violet Lewis of Lincoln, Nebraska, Margueriete Hartman and husband Glen of Lincoln, and Freda Gilliland and husband Melvin of Walla Walla, Washington; one brother Farrell Eastin and wife Laverna of Lincoln; and a host of relatives and friends.
