Harlan Max Earley
OBITUARY
Harlan Max Earley, son of Joseph Hiram and Lillian May (Landon) Earley, was born April 18, 1921 in Decatur County, Iowa and died March 2, 1997 at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon, Iowa at the age of 75 years 10 months and 12 days. Max was the youngest of five children.
On November 20, 1951 he married Flossie Marie Pullen. To this union five children were born: James Max, Donald Wayne, Diana Lynn, Bobby Dean, and Randall Lee.
Max grew up and went to school in Decatur County. He and Flossie settled in and around Leon. He was a veteran of World War II. Max worked for E. I. Sargeant Quarries for 29 1/2 years before retiring.
He enjoyed his family and grandchildren. His favorite hobbies were camping, country music, dancing, and projects with sons and volunteer work for the community.
Preceding Max in death were his parents; his wife Flossie in 1994; two children: Diana and Bobby; two sisters: Velma Barth and Opal Akes; and brother Dean Earley.
Survivors include his three sons: Jim Earley and wife Susan; Donnie Wayne Earley and wife Stephanie; and Randy Lee Earley, all of Leon; three grandchildren: Stacy Jo, Travis Wayne, and Brenna Marie Earley; sister Beulah Vandel; brother-in-law Bill Akes, both of Leon; sister-in-law Veltia Pullen of Des Moines, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
