WILLIAM HARDIN EVANS was born in Hardin County, Tenn., Dec. l5, l82l,
was married in l845, and with his family emigrated to Iowa in l849
and
in l85l to Decatur County where they settled on the farm now owned
by
W.E. Bracewell, 9 miles northwest of Lineville, where they resided
until
a few years ago, when they moved to Lineville, and subsequently after
the death of his wife, he moved to Cartersville, Mo., where he died
Jan.
l5, l900, aged 79 years and one month. He was converted and joined
the
Presbyterian Church in Tennessee when about twenty years of age and
in
his character and life continued steadfast and consistent to the end.
The remains were brought to Lineville accompanied by S.H. EVANS, of
Cartersville, son of the deceased, and after the funeral services at
the
Presbyterian Church, conducted by Rev. J.H. Hall, were interred at
Evergreen Cemetery in Lineville, beside the remains of his wife, who
died Jan. 24, l897. A large number attended the funeral and paid
fitting respect to the memory of the deceased who for so many years
had
lived among them the life of a good citizen and an upright Christian
man. Ripe in years, he has gone to his eternal rest honored and
respected by all.
