JANE TINCKNELL was born August 29, l849, at Burlington, Wisconsin, and
died May 3l, l903, being 53 years, 9 months and 2 days old. When three
years of age her parents moved to Iowa and located at Dyersville. Here
the deceased was married to JAS. H. EVANS, Dec. l2, l866. Eleven
children were born to them, five of whom are living, namely; FRED,
GEORGE, MINNIE, MATTIE and JOHN. MR. and MRS. EVANS came to Leon in
l893, where they have come to be highly esteemed for their excellent
qualities.
MRS. EVANS united with the Methodist Church when quite young and the
purity of her life and constancy of her devotion have continually borne
testimony to her excellent Christian character. Funeral services were
conducted on Monday, June l, l903, in the M.E. Church by her pastor,
Rev. I.N. Woodward. The body was laid to rest in the Leon Cemetery
to
await the resurrection of the just. "Blessed are the dead who die in
the Lord from henceforth yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest
from
their labors and their works do follow them."
