Subject: OBITUARY - MARGARET ELLEN (JONES) EVANS.

MARGARET ELLEN(JONES)EVANS was born in North Carolina, May 29, l827, and

died of dropsy December 3, l897, aged 70 years, 6 months and 4 days.

She was married to JOHN F. EVANS September l8, l85l. To this union were

born six children--HARRISON, ANDERSON, ISAAC, POLLY ANN, ELIJAH and

MARION. HARRISON and ANDERSON preceded their mother to that better

home. One was a little child, the other a young man.

The deceased had ten grandchildren living. Her husband and all of her

children were present at her bedside when death came. She has been a

member of the M.E. Church since l853--perhaps longer--and always lived a

consistent Christian life.

Short services were held at the residence on Sunday, conducted by NELSON

STILL. A number of hymns were sung and a poem read suitable to the

occasion. She was followed to her last resting place in Eden Cemetery

by a large crowd of sympathizing neighbors and friends.
