The following, taken from the Frontier County, Neb., Republican, refers
to the death of a former citizen of Decatur County.  His father, A.J.
EVANS, Sr. practiced law in Leon at an early day.

ANDREW J. EVANS died at the residence of FLETCHER GRANDSTAFF, in Lower
Medicine precinct, on Saturday, March 29, l897, aged 38 years, 7 months
and 25 days, after an illness lasting about three weeks.

Deceased was born in Decatur County, Iowa, on the 28th day of July l858,
and moved to Nebraska in the spring of l882, where he has ever since
resided.

He leaves surviving him four sisters and two brothers, MRS. C.F.
SLEBECKER, MRS. A.L. MORGAN and MRS. FLETCHER GRANDSTAFF, being
residents of Frontier County.

The thanks of the relatives are extended for favors shown during his
illness and contribution of flowers after his death.
