Brakeman, J.F. EMBERLING of Ottumwa, brother of MRS. J.W. BOWMAN of this city, was killed at Murray at 9:30 o'clock Thursday night by falling from the top of a car across the rails. Both legs and one arm were severed and a portion of the head crushed. MR. EMBERLING had been railroading for twenty years and was said to be a very cautious man. He had a number of acquaintances in Leon, having visited here a number of times.
The remains were taken to Prairie City, Ill., his former home, and buried Sunday, over 500 persons attending the funeral. Deceased was 42 years of age and leaves a wife but no children.
