The saddest event known in this vicinity for a long time was the death of MRS. DAYKIN, wife of SAM T. DAYKIN, which took place Sunday night at l0 o'clock, after much suffering. It is proper to say the attending physicians did not deem a surgical operation necessary and there was none. The funeral was held at the Free Methodist Church of which she was a member, at 3 p.m., Monday, conducted by Rev. Eaton, the Pastor. It was largely attended.
MRS. MARY DAYKIN, the deceased, was the daughter of MRS. THOS. HONN, who nursed her in her last sickness. She was 39 years of age and was born in Decatur County, Iowa. By her death eight small children are left motherless and all know how pitiful is the condition of motherless children. The youngest of them is a babe two weeks old, now kindly cared for by MRS. BEESON. The father is unable to care for his little flock and must part with all but two little boys. The baby will be sent to the orphan's home at Council Bluffs.
