The people of Kellerton have been greatly stirred up over two sudden
deaths. SAMUEL BRUCE, living five miles south of Kellerton, was found
dead in bed Thursday morning, Feb. l. He had been up to make a fire,
and as he was not feeling very well went back to bed. MRS. BRUCE got
up
and got breakfast and called MR. BRUCE. Receiving no response, she
went
to the bed and found him dead. He was an old soldier and a member of
the Church of Christ.
While Elder J.D. Forsyth was preaching the funeral at the Christian
Church, one of the pall bearers, JAMES DAVIDSON of Kellerton, another
old soldier, and a charter member of the Christian Church at that place,
arose to read something in regard to the deceased as a soldier, and
fell
over dead into the arms of I.M. Cox, another of the pall bearers. He
did not utter a word after he was stricken, and was dead before they
could get him out of the church.
