Decatur County Journal
April 25, l90l

HARRY J., little son of MR. and MRS. R.B. DRAKE, was born sixteen miles
north of Leon, Decatur County, Iowa, April 22, l899 and died after a
short illness caused by inflamation of the bowels, April 20 at ll
o'clock p.m., and was buried on his birthday.

HARRY was a lovely, attractive little boy and had won the fondest
affection of his father and mother and his grandparents with many near
relatives. But Jesus called him home, he thought it best. This little
flower of the home garden has only gone out of the garden to bloom.

The funeral took place at the family residence, services being conducted
by Eld. F. Edwards, Pastor of the Leon Baptist Church, after which the
remains were laid to rest in the Cemetery near the New Salem Baptist
Church. The bereaved parents have the prayer and sympathy of a large
circle of relatives and friends.

There is two tiny little hands,
Laid to rest forever more
There is two little feet
Gone to tread the golden shore.
Angels bore them safely over,
But for this treasure we will not weep,
Though gone forevermore,
Little Harry has only gone to sleep.

How hard it must have been to lose this child, and to bury it on it's
birthday. N
