CLARENCE E. DOWNEY was born in Decatur County, Iowa, March 5, l895, and

died at the home of his grandparents, southeast of Davis City, April l2,

l899, aged 4 years, l month and 6 days. The life of this little one has

only covered the space of four short years, but in this brief time it

has found a place in the affection of the family and friends that make

its loss a sore bereavement. He was of a kind and loving disposition.

The funeral services were conducted at the Holden Church, Friday, April

l3, and the remains laid at rest in the Hamilton Cemetery. Many friends

were present to witness the performance of the last sad rites.
