Subject: OBITUARY - JOHN F. DAVIS.

Died, at his residence in Leon, on Saturday, October l8, l896, after a

brief illness, JOHN F. DAVIS, in the sixtieth year of his age. MR.

DAVIS was born in Piqua County, Ohio, August 28, l836. He was married

to MISS MARY C. WELCH, in Sangamon County, Ill., October l8, l857. To

them eight children were born, six of whom, with the mother, survive to

mourn the loss of a kind husband and a good father.

BRO. DAVIS was for many years a member of the M.E. Church; also for a

time a member of the Christian Church and seemed to enjoy a good degree

of the grace of God in his heart. He moved to Leon about four years

ago. The writer has known him well for a quarter of a century. He was

an industrious man and had accumulated a fine property.

Funeral services were held at the Dunkard Church, 5 miles northeast of

Leon and were attended by a large number of sorrowing friends.
