MARY JOSEPHINE DAILY was born October 29, l859, at Burlington, Iowa, and
died at her home near Grand River, October l5, l907, aged 47 years, ll
months and l6 days. She came to Decatur County with her parents in
March, l872. She had made this county her home ever since, excepting
two years spent in Wyoming. She attended the schools of the county and
prepared herself for teaching school and chose this for her life work
and taught for nearly twenty years.
She accepted Christ as her guide early in life and united with the M.E.
Church at what was known as the Maple Grove Church. Afterwards, she
united with the Presbyterian Church at Grand River and was a member of
this church when she died. She was very patient during her long illness
and said she was ready and willing to go. She leaves a father and four
sisters, MRS. LOTTIE BRADSHAW, MRS. BESSIE SHAUGHNESSY, of Kansas, MRS.
BLOSSOM GILREATH and MISS MABEL DAILY. Her sisters were all at her
bedside except MRS. SHAUGHNESSY, she being unable to come.
The funeral was conducted by Rev. Nichols, at the home, October l7th.
Interment at Oak Hill Cemetery.
