Glenn Crees Suicides by Hanging.

Glenn Crees, a well known farmer living just across the line in Ringgold county on the Mike McGraw farm about six miles northwest of Grand River, committed suicide last Wednesday evening, by hanging himself in a patch of timber. Mr. Crees had been working with some other men, and they started for home. He was riding a pony, and after going a short distance with the men, said he guessed he would go back and turn on the windmill. He rode to the timber, took the bridle from the horse and used it to hang himself in a tree just over the edge of a bank of a creek. Sometime afterwards the horse returned home without the bridle and relatives went looking for him, and found him dead.

The deceased was a young many 26 years of age, of unusual robust build. It was reported in Des Moines papers that over $1400 was found in his pockets but this was a mistake, as he had less than five dollars in his pocket. He is reported to have been in financial straits, and this is probably the cause for his rash act. He carried a life insurance policy for $5,000.

He was a son of Cyrus Crees, and is survived by his wife and two small children. His funeral was held at Maple Grove church on Friday, interment being in the Decatur cemetery.

DeKalb News.

Our neighborhood was greatly shocked Thursday morning when the word came to us that Glenn Crees, a well known and respected citizen had hanged himself Wednesday to a tree about two miles from his home, in thick brush, with a bridle which he had taken from the horse he had ridden to this place. They found him about 6 o'clock Wednesday evening. He will be sadly missed among his neighbors and friends, and the grief stricken parents and loving wife and children have the symapthy of the community in this sad affair. The funeral was held Friday at the Maple Grove church, his remains being laid to rest at Decatur to await the resurrection morn. He is gone but not forgotten.

Archie Glenn Crees.

Archie Glenn Crees, son of Cyrus and Delia Crees, was born in Grand River, Decatur county, Iowa, Oct. 10, 1893, being at the time of his death 26 years and 11 days old.

On March 1, 1916, he was united in marriage to Madge S. Phipps. Mr. and Mrs. Crees were blessed with two children, Wilber, aged 3 years, and little Vaughn, aged 10 months. He leaves behind to mourn his death his young wife, two children, father, mother, three brothers and one sister, besides an aged grandfather and a host of other relatives and friends.

He confessed his faith in God early in life, and tried to live faithful to this trust ever since. With earth's last farewell there comes a sense of sadness, but in our hearts we are satisfied that all is well.

Funeral services were conducted at Maple Grove church Friday, Oct. 24th at 2 p. m., by Rev. Henry Esch, of Decatur. Interment was in the Decatur cemetery.
