Flora Belle (Van Horn) Creal

Flora Belle VanHorn, only daughter of James H. and Laura Ann VanHorn, was born at Muscatine, IA, November 1,1854, and passed away at her home in Decatur, IA, March 11, 1928, being 73 years, 4 months and 10 days of age. She was one of seven children, all having preceded her in death except one brother, Asa D. VanHorn of Council Bluffs, IA. With her parents she moved to Decatur county 58 years ago.
On April 9, 1876 she was married to Oscar Burton Creal who preceded her in death just 2 months and 20 days ago. To this union were born three children, Ida, George and Ressie; George having died December 15, 1918. She leaves to mourn her untimely death her two daughters, two grandsons, one brother together with other relatives and a host of friends.
Mrs. Creal was a lady who enjoyed her home life above all other and was happy when surrounded by her family and friends. In early life she was converted and united with the Methodist church of which she has always been a member. She was a loyal supporter of the Ladies Aid. She was one who was loved and respected by all who knew her.
Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon conducted by Rev. J. E. Habiliston of the Leon Methodist church. Interment being made by the side of her companion in the Decatur Cemetery.
