Obituary ~ Daniel Franklin Crane
November 04, 1840 ~ October 12, 1897

Attorney Reed of this place received a telegram Tuesday morning announcing the death of D. F. Crane, at his home in Lamoni, Iowa, that morning. At one time Mr. Crane was a resident of this place. He was postmaster for a number of years and was an old soldier. Mr. Crane was an honorable, upright citizen and had the respect of his fellow townsmen. He leaves a wife, child and several relatives.

NOTE: Daniel Franklin Crane was born November 4, 1840, Bradford, Vermont, and died October 12, 1897, Lamoni, Iowa. He served during the Civil War with the "Iron Brigade", Company G or I, 2nd Wisconson Infantry and re-enlisted to serve with Company B, 10th Minnesota Infantry. He was taken captive at the Battle of the 1st Bull Run, 1861. His wife was Clarissa "Clara" (KEECH) CRANE BOYER. Both Daniel and Clara were interred at Rose Hill Cemetery, Lamoni, Iowa.
