Obituary ~ Linnie Minta (Knott) Cox

Linnie Minta, daughter of Peter and Phoebe (Cudney) Knott, was born in Adams county Iowa, June 17, 1871, died at the home of her son Raymond Cox, near Leon, Iowa, May 17, 1929, aged 54 years and 11 months.

She came to Decatur county when four years of age, and for fifty years has been a resident here. She was married to John W. Cox and to this union eight children were born. Raymond and Lloyd of near Weldon; Roy, of Yetter, Iowa; John, of Syracuse, Kansas; Verne, of Leon; Mrs. Alice Hill, of Rochelle, Illinois; Helen and Pauline of home. She professed faith in Christ eary in life and became a member of the Fairview M. M. church and always strove to follow the masters teachings.

She leaves to mourn her departure her devoted husband, five sons and three daughters, six grandchildren, four sisters, Mrs. Lucy Cochran and Mrs. W. A. Highsmith of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Mrs. Lulu Locke, of Walla Walla, Washington; Mrs. Ida Fay of Niles, Michigan; three brothers, David Knott, of Culver, Kansas; M.A. Knott, of Columbus Junction; Iowa; O. R. Knott, of Loretta, Nebraska. All her children were at her bedside, also two sisters and a neice, Mrs. Otteson of Niles, Michigan. She was a fond and devoted mother.

Funeral services were held at the home of her son, Raymond Cox on Sunday, May 19th, conducted by Rev. Claud Studebaker, pastor of the Leon Brethren church. Interment was in the Van Wert Cemetery.
