Obituary ~ Orville Emmett Coffelt

ORVILLE EMMETT, son of EMMETT JAMES and CLARA ELECTA COFFELT, was born near Lamoni, Iowa Oct. 31, 1902, the eldest of four children, and died March 4, 1983 near Leon, Iowa, age 80. His early years were spent on a farm near Lamoni, except for three years in Colorado.

On Dec. 24, 1925 he was united in marriage with VIOLA MAE JACKSON. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1975. The last fifty years he was engaged in farming and cattle feeding west of Leon. In May of 1982, they moved to Leon where they had built a home.

ORVILLE was a past member of the Odd Fellows Lodge for forty-five years; member of the Leon Christian Church where he was active as a deacon and board member.

ORVILLE died while checking cattle at his farm.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers: HESSELL and SHUBAL COFFELT; and sister, DELTA (Mrs. VIRGIL) MARTIN.

Survivors are his widow VIOLA; three children: daughter, TWYLA FULTON and husband, LESLIE; son, GARY COFFELT and wife, LEONORE; daughter, DONNA JEAN RUMLEY and husband JOE; seven grandsons: LARY and BOB CAYLOR; TONY and RODENY RUMLEY; CHRIS, TODD and PAUL COFFELT; two great grandchildren: TADY CAYLOR and SARA CAYLOR; two uncles; one aunt; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

[Interment was made at Leon Cemetery, Leon, Iowa.]
