Obituary ~ Dallas E. "Dally" Clifton
April 26, 1911 ~ November 28, 1993

Dallas E. “Dally” CLIFTON was born June 10, 1942 in Osceola to Augusta and Willis Ervin CLIFTON and died June 10, 1995 at the Clarke County Hospital. Mr. CLIFTON suffered a heart attack on his 53rd birthday. A Des Moines air ambulance was summoned and was on the helipad at the airport [hospital?] when Mr. CLIFTON succumbed.

He grew up and lived all his life in the Clarke County area and attended Clarke County schools. He married Caroleen BOLES on Nov. 30, 1963 in Leon. To this union, a daughter Christine Marie, was born.

He was employed by the Iowa Department of Transportation, assigned to the Osceola district maintenance facility. It was a job that he had been faithful to for over 30 years. He was a past member of the Osceola Volunteer Fire Department.

One of his favorite hobbies was maintaining and driving a 1962 Chevrolet Impala, which he kept in mint condition. He loved to work in his yard and garden. He also enjoyed annual vacations with his sister Donna and her family in Colorado. He always looked forward to sharing this time with his family and enjoying the beauty of the mountains.

Mr. CLIFTON was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law, Zell BOLES, and his sister-in-law, Colleen KASTLER.

He is survived by his wife, Caroleen; daughter Chris; sisters Donna GRAHAM and her husband Hank GRAHAM of Loveland, Colo.; Dorothy CRAIG of San Jose, Calif.; Nancy VICKERS of

Okalahoma City, Okla.; brother Denny CLIFTON and his wife Linda CLIFTON of Albany, Mo.; mother-in-law Marie BOLES; brother-in-law Howard KASTLER of Van Wert; many nieces and nephews, other family members and many friends.

Funeral services were held at Kale Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 13, 1995, with the Rev. Neville CLAYTON officiating. Organist Kay GESAMAN played On The Wings of A DOVE and The Wind Beneath My Wings.

Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery. Carrying the casket were Merrill CRITTENDEN, Larry HOLMES, Bob SCHADER, Ike CRAWFORD, Steve SPENCER, Shawn CLARK. Honorary casket bearers were Don MARTIN, Wayne REYNOLDS, Bill MONGAR, Gary CHEW, Jack BROMLEY, and Randy SHORT.
