MARGARET STONE CHASTAIN, the daughter of R. B. and MARY ANN SPRINGER STONE, was born June 15, 1904 near Leon in Decatur Township of Decatur County, Iowa and died April 24, 1983 in the Decatur County Hospital at Leon, age 78 years, 10 months and 9 days.

She was a graduate of the Leon High School and attended Parsons College, then taught school in Eldon, Iowa and Scottsbluff, Ne. In 1931 she was married to GEORGE EYLER, who preceded her in death in 1940.

MARGARET was married in 1972 to PAUL CHASTAIN in Knoxville, Iowa. They traveled to California and enjoyed fishing trips.

MARGARET was a member of the Leon Presbyterian Church; a 60 year member and past president of Chapter W, P. E. O. Sisterhood; past Worthy Matron of Leon Chapter No. 352, Order of Eastern Star; past Worthy High Priestess of White Shrine; and a member of the Sorosis and Magazine Clubs.

Others preceding her in death were her parents and brother, JAMES STONE.

Survivors include her husband, PAUL, of Leon; step-daughter, JANICE LUND and husband, TOR; 3 step-granddaughters, LAURIE and LISA, all of Whittier, Ca.; brother, JOHN STONE and wife, JULIA, Leon; 2 sisters; JUNE WORSTELL, Knoxville, Iowa, and DOROTHY DAVIS and DON, Ottumwa, Iowa; three nephews: TOM STONE and wife, NORMA and their daughter JENNY; DAVID STONE and wife, MARCIA and their 4 children - MARI ANNE, JACOB, SARA and AMY, all of Leon: and JOHN DAVIS and wife GAY, of Springfield, Mo.: and friends.

Service was conducted from Slade Funeral Home April 27 with Pastor WALTER BERNARD officiating. Burial was in the Leon Cemetery.
