Obituary ~ Avadia (Smith) Carlton
December 17, 1875 ~ November 05, 1914

 The Leon Reporter
Leon, Decatur County, Iowa
Thursday, November 12, Page 6

Avadia Smith was born December 17, 1875, died November 5, 1914, aged 38 years, 10 months and 18 days. She was married to Eli Carlton February 23, 1898, who, with her mother, three brothers and one sister survive her. The relatives are the mother, Mrs. Nancy Boyd, Waldo, Kansas; John and Hess Smith of Downs, Kansas; Newton Boyd of Waldo, Kansas; and Mrs. Armada Carlton, of Decatur City, Iowa.

Mrs. Carlton has been a sufferer from that dread disease - tuberculosis - for the past year and although all was done for her that could be done she gradually grew weaker and passed away.

The funeral services were held in the Camden Baptist church conducted by Rev. E. B. Scoggan in the presence of a large company of sympathizing friends, and the body laid to rest in the Young cemetery to await the Great judgement Day.
