WILLIAM FILANDER CRAIG
William Filander Craig, son of Samuel and Harriett Hamilton Craig, was
Oct. 24, 1875 at Davis City, Iowa and died Feb. 8, 1972 at the Decatur
County Hospital, Leon, Iowa, at the age of 96 years, 3 months and 15 days.
He spent his life farming in Decatur County, Iowa, with the exception of
three years which he lived in Harrison County, Missouri.
He was united in marriage to Jenettie Cross Nov. 4, 1896 in the Methodist
Church at Davis City, Iowa and to this union were born seven children:
Garland; Clyde; Lloyd; twins, Clair and Clarice; Louise; and John.
He was preceded in death by his wife Feb. 8, 1949; four sons; two
sons-in-law; one daughter-in-law; 1 great granddaughter; parents; two
sisters; ten brothers-in-law; and three sisters-in-law.
Surviving are son Garland, Leon; two daughters, Clarice Hawk, Davis City,
and Louise Hill, Leon; two daughters-in-law, Pearl Craig, Leon; and Ruby
Craig, Cainsville Mo.; 12 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 10
great-great grandchildren; sister, Maude Crawley, Ridgeway, Mo.;
brother-in-law, Alfred Boyd and wife, Leon; nieces, nephews, other relatives
He accepted Christ as his Saviour Oct. 14, 1971.
