Leon, Decatur County, Iowa
Thursday, November 24 1904
Early Tuesday morning, MR. F.N. CUMMINS received a telegram containing the sad intelligence of the death of his son, IRA M. CUMMINS, near Pond Creek, Oklahoma. While out hunting he was accidentally shot, from the effects of which he died about 7 o'clock Monday evening. The deceased lived in our county many years before he located in Oklahoma. His brother, A.J. CUMMINS, resides in Decatur Township and another brother, ex-Superintendent, J.E. CUMMINS, lives in Cedar Rapids.
MR. CUMMINS was a young man of good abilities and possessed a kindly and generous nature. He was incapable of malice, never spoke ill of others and others always felt kindly towards him.
